Welcome!

Welcome to our friends and alumni! For over one hundred years, Northwestern has been graduating students with chemistry degrees. During that time, we have developed an extraordinary core of alumni. Our alumni are leaders in academia, industry and government – the center of our community.

In the upcoming years, we hope to strengthen the parts of our program that are most important to you. We are in the process of hiring new faculty members in organic chemistry. We are expanding and updating our space; Northwestern is building a new laboratory center that will serve as the research facilities for five professors of Chemistry. Each year, we work to bring in a class of outstanding students who will excel in research and teaching.

I invite you to renew your relationship with the Department. We will be hosting a reception at the Fall National meeting of the American Chemical Society in Washington D.C. on Monday, August 17, 2009 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.at the Willard Hotel. Come join us and catch up with your former classmates. There are birthday parties being organized on campus for both Mike Wasielewski and Ken Poeppelmeier in Sepatember and October 2009.You can always contact the department for more information. We hope to see some of you on campus for these events. As always, we welcome any volunteers who wish to mentor current students or who have suggestions for alumni events.
