Welcome!

Welcome to our friends and alumni! For over one hundred years, Northwestern has been graduating students with chemistry degrees. During that time, we have developed an extraordinary core of alumni. Our alumni are leaders in academia, industry and government – the center of our community.

In the upcoming years, we hope to strengthen the parts of our program that are most important to you. We are in the process of hiring two new faculty members - one in inorganic and one in organic chemistry. We are expanding and updating our space; Northwestern is building a new laboratory center that will serve as the research facilities for five professors of Chemistry. Each year, we work to bring in a class of outstanding students who will excel in research and teaching.

I invite you to renew your relationship with the Department. Tobinstock was celebrated this past November, marking Tobin Marks’ 60th birthday, and you can see the pictures under the Alumni Events link. Richard Van Duyne’s group and alumni will be hosting a similar event for him in October, and we hope to see many of you back on campus then. As always, we welcome any volunteers who wish to mentor current students or who have suggestions for alumni events.
